about me
I was born in Sydney towards the end of the stylistically tragic decade of the eighties.
My mother went into labour with me at midnight on Halloween in the wings of the stage of the Rocky Horror Show while holding a bucket for Richard O'Brien to throw up in; thereby setting my life a little left of center off to a flying start. My father was a photographer and had recently been working in New York, filling in time by calling Helmut Newton at obscene hours in the morning just because he could. One day I'll get a t-shirt made up that says "My Dad Pissed Off Helmut Newton" and wear it proudly.
I lived in Sydney until I was 14, when we shifted interstate to Melbourne and I've been in love with this city ever since. I endured all the usual turbulence of high school and rebelled in all the same ways pretty much all other angst-ridden teenagers rebel - I got pierced, tattooed, listened to angry music, got myself a fake ID to go clubbing, and smoked in the girl's toilets. I ended up leaving in year ten to study my VCE at Swinburne Senior Secondary College, which, at that point, was the best decision I'd ever made, and it was wonderful for me to be able to embrace learning for what it was without starched school shirts or mandatory P.E.. I studied a bit of just about everything there - Art, Studio Art, Music Performance, Drama, Fashion Design and Technology, Biology, English Literature, Media ... it was great. Unfortunately I had some pretty heavy personal issues at the time and thus didn't complete my VCE successfully, which resulted in me moving back to Sydney for a year. While in Sydney I studied for a Tertiary Preparation Certificate and completed it with far better results than I had originally anticipated.
I have recently returned back to Melbourne and I'm so happy to be back here - I love everything about this city, especially the live music scene. I'm a sucker for Melbourne's rock'n'roll talent and love nothing more than dancing at a gig with a Jager in one hand and a cigarette in the other.
